In order to process OWL correctly, the reference data library that is the most specialized rdl must be identified as the context ontology. The context ontology must include all other rdl's in an exchange file. This should be achieved by classifying the most specialized External_data_library as the "Context_ontology".

This template should describe how to achieve this, both in text and using an instance example. An OWL class "Context_ontology" has to be created. Possibly, a specific template has to be developed for this.

There is no uniqueness constraint in this template to the effect that a External_reference_library is only instantiated once for each specific RDL, i.e. there should never in a data set be two or more instances of External_class_library with the same value in attribute id.

Rejected. PLCS-ARM-LF_ENTITY is a valid class in the RDL. However, this is the only place where this class is being referenced since any subclass of PLCS-ARM-LF_ENTITY is valid. Alternative would be to state every subclass of PLCS-ARM-LF_ENTITY, which wouldn't be meaningful.

Unique constraint: Classification_assignment There shall be at most one instance of the entity (Classification_assignment) within the data set uniquely identified by a combination of the following parameters on this template (assigning_reference_data) namely: ecl_id, class_name, items. The instance is referenced by the following template parameter: class_asg. Any given classification shall only be assigned to an item once.

Assigning reference data template is used to both: 1) indicate that a PLCS entity is an external class defined by reference data 2) indicate that a PLCS entity is an individual defined by reference data The semantics of classification assignment do not support this. The assigning reference data template should make it clear that the assignment if either to an individual or a class, or another mechanism should be provided for assigning individuals as reference data. A number of templates that use assigning_reference data are using it to assign classes that should in fact be individuals. The associated reference data (OWL files) should be corrected so that individuals are created rather than classes. There is also a conflict in DEXlib (in some areas) as to which EXPRESS attributes should be populated with individuals. Specifically, most templates assume that identification codes will populate Identification_assignment.identifier and that the classifiers of those codes will populate External_class.name. The way that some OWL files have been populated and the (particularly) assigning_code template assumes that the codes themselves will populate External_class.name. This is not just incorrect from a semantic point of view, it is inconsistent. A rigorous and consistent approach to the use of reference data classes and instances in DEXlib is clearly required.
