Technical Committee Chairs
A Technical Committee must have a Chair, and may have two Co-Chairs. The responsibilities of the Chair include the following:
- Keep the Technical Committee moving towards completion of its charter, within scope and on schedule
- Ensure compliance with the OASIS Technical Committee Process and IPR Policies; notify the Technical Committee Administrator of any concerns
- Speak for the Technical Committee as required for promotional or publicity purposes
- Conduct (chair) meetings in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised, including facilitating discussions, handling motions and voting, ruling on the outcome of votes, etc.
- Conduct (or delegate to Secretary) roll call, record attendance, and maintain the Technical Committee membership roster based on OASIS membership rules.
- Take (or delegate) meeting minutes and ensure that minutes are posted to the e-mail list (can be in the body of the message, as an attachment, or an upload notification) and approved at the next quorate meeting
- Schedule and announce meetings and their agendas
- Maintain list of action items and status of the Technical Committee's work
- Monitor and coordinate the work of any subcommittees
- Maintain the Technical Committee's public home page web content (may be delegated to TC webmaster)
- Moderate the Technical Committee's e-mail list, keeping the discussion on topic and noting any items that should be added to meeting Agendas
- Monitor the public comment list and raise items as appropriate on the e-mail list or meeting Agendas
- Report to the OASIS Technical Committee Administrator on the status of the committee and raise issues as appropriate
- Notify the OASIS Technical Committee Administrator of Special Majority Ballots to be conducted
- Assemble and submit to the OASIS Technical Committee Administrator packages for Public Review, Committee Specification vote, and requests for OASIS Standard membership ballots
NOTE: While the Chair(s) have the responsibility of making sure the Technical Committee is running smoothly and in accordance with the OASIS Technical Committee Process, they do not have the authority to unilaterally make technical decisions or set the Technical Committee's agenda or direction.
